About the Founder
Salt River Truth was founded by Dr. John Mack, a historian, educator, author, poet, and longtime observer of the Salt River horses. Through historical research, public records, writing, public education, and field observation, Dr. Mack works to preserve the stories of the horses and provide accessible information about the issues affecting their future.
Our mission is to confront misinformation by offering evidence-based research, detailed ecological context, and transparent reporting. We aim to showcase the beauty of this unique ecosystem while tackling the difficult management issues with intellectual honesty.
